Its to do 3 things, wash them because sometimes they can have chemicals sprayed on them while they where being grown, some people think that fruit and vegetables taste better that way and because it makes them look more fresh, health and better tasting.

because there are so many insects, flies and dust to clean it they sprinkled fresh fruits and vegetables with water.
