Why are endless pools so expensive?

I love the idea of having a endless pool that doubles as a jacuzzi or spa. I even drew up a floor plan for a one bedroom home that has a multifunction/multipurpose, indoor and outdoor area that acts as a dinning area and also has a sunken endless pool and the whole floor plan is under 900 sq ft.

As I was shopping for endless pools I quickly found out how ridiculously overpriced they are. the retail price could easily go up to 10K - 15K dollars. I've seen others for just a couple thousand dollars but that is still way too much.

So why are they so expensive? and is there an affordable/easy way you could do-it-yourself?

the pumps are massive. Not like a hot tub, need to move a lot of water fast.

My parents have an Endless Pool and it was really a great investment. They have a small backyard living just outside the city and there was no way a regular pool would work. The swim current is great and provides them with exercise whenever they want it. I helped them along the way with research and the Endless Pool is the best current pool you can buy from everything I saw and tried. Not everyone can afford them, but I guess I'd say you get what you pay for. For them, it's been a great value and a life changer.
