Who were the first people to have a systematic method to solve algebraic equations?

The entire system was invented by Arabs while Europe was in the dark ages. "Algebra" is Arabic for "the method". Arabs were terrible about recording their history.

Euclid is remembered for inventing what is now called the mathematical proof, called geometry at the time.
