I think you mean Tonya Harding. From memory, Tonya Harding got into trouble for hiring somebody to hurt her ice skating arch rival Nancy Kerrigan.

Her ex-husband was jailed for this but I am not sure if Tonya served any time.

Tonya Harding was born on November 12, 1970. In 1991 she won the American figure skating championships. She went on to place second in the world championships. She was only the second woman in history (the first American woman) to complete a triple axel jump in competition.

Her ex-husband (Jeff Gillooly) hired two other men to attack her arch rival Nancy Kerrigan at the American Figure Skating Championships in 1994.
