My son and I live with my father. My sons father (my ex) doesn't have custody and my son doesn't stay with him at all.
Since I still qualify as my dad's dependant he claims me on his taxes.
I know that I have to give permission to my ex in order for him to be able to claim our son.
But i feel my father has more of a right to, because we live with him and my son doesn't live with my ex.
My question is, who has first rights at claiming my son on their taxes? My dad who my son lives with? Or my ex (my sons father) who has no custody?
Who has first dibs at claiming my son as a dependant?
