You can go to Boston in America.
One of my friend lived there. He is my classmate in the junior high school.
After graduated from junior high, he studied high school and university in Boston.
He said that it snows every winter in Boston.
He can go skiing, but he seldom do.
Because it is cold very very much in the winter.
Best wishes

I think Hokkaido is a good choice for skiing . In early January, it is bitterly cold, usually hovering around 0F without windchill, but the temperatures mean that the snow is unreal - when people say the powder snow is legendary there is no exaggeration. The snow is so fine that you can discern the individual snowflakes. It is generally dumping snow in January so that is the best time to visit if the cold doesn't bother you. If you want to go shopping, it is may not the best one, but some kind of satisfaction.
I recommend Karuizawa where is pretty cold in winter. You can go skiing as you wish. On the other hand, you can get rid of hotness in summer. If you wanna go shopping, there is an outlet shopping mall where has lots of big brand near the Karuizawa station. Aside from that, the public security in Japan is quite well. Karuizawa is full of beautiful landscape. And it's not too far away from Tokyo so that you can go shopping there as well. Enjoy your trip.

I think Seoul is your best choice! There are many outstanding skiing resorts in there, and you could have a wonderful experience there with professional coach. After the exciting skiing class, you can taste the most traditional korean food to comfort your exhausted body. Moreover, you can go to the skiing resort from center of Seoul less than 2 hours! In this way, you could enjoy your shopping and skiing schedule easily!
I suggest you go to Hokkaido, the 2nd largest island in Japan. First, it's not far from Taiwan, you can get there without long fly time and have fabulous experience. Second, the island is winning a reputation as a heaven for travelers wanting to ski and hike in its mountain, you even can relax in Onsen at you leisure. Third, Sapporo is a modern city in Hokkaido can meet your urban needs whenever you want.
As the living places, I especially recommend the 5 star Hoshino Tomamu Resort with my best regards. The resort provides a package includes accommodation, flight ticket, optional ski items etc. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy great time with your family there. Btw, the ski season is from Dec. to Apr., you have to seize the time for your ski holiday asap.
You could come to Morzine in France, it has great ski pistes for all abilities, Ski with Ease ski school are great for building ski confidence.. The resort itself has great shopping and apres ski with Geneva just down the valley @ apx 50 mins away, it's shoppers paradise for more high end items if you wanted to take a day away from the slopes.
