my mom got glasses when she was 10 and my dad got them when he was 17 I am 14
P.S. whenever i try to focus on anything far away (more than 20 feet) my eyes hurt does this mean i already need glasses?

Well, does it hurt, or is it just exhausting? 20 feet is quite a distance for small details.
Depending on the degree of short-sightedness some people need glasses from early childhood on, and others later, up to their early twenties.
That's because the human eye hasn't fully matured until the mid-twenties to thirties.
Often, people sudenly need glasses in their puberty, as the body developes faster and more extremely. Since your father got his glasses not before he was 17 it'll possibly be around that age for you, as well.
You will know, when you'll finally need glasses, e.g. when you can't read things written on a chalkboard, you can't distinguish the facial expression of a person on the other side of a road, and so on.
Ok. I recommend you to go to an eye specialist. You'll probably be diagnosed a slight short-sightedness.
And if so, then at least for school, you'll have wear glasses or contacts. I'd choose the glasses, because as long as your short-sightedness doesn't interfere with other things in your everyday life glasses would be more comfortable.
You're still very young which means that your short-sightedness will increase, but it won't affect your overall ability to see. That only means that until your 30, you'll need to adjust your glasses or contacts every year or two.
Long story short: see an oculist.
i am having the same problem. my eyes hurt all the time. i cant see stuff on the white bord. going to an eye docter soon. i have tried glasses on of some of my freinds with weak perscriptions and it seemed to actully help my vision. so i probably need them to. because you have the symtoms as me, its possible you need them to.
i cant see small details from 20 ft it hurts to focus on anything and i can only see the white board if i sit somewhere close to the front of the class. I haven't had a eye appointment for 4 years
