All three answers are correct, and it's a lame question. It depends mostly on what kind of equipment it is, and you should have training to that effect. Some equipment is hot all over and you wear protective clothing. Some equipment you test by spitting on it. Test a frying pan or a griddle with a drop of clean water, not spit. In a foundry you do not sit on anything without first spitting on it. In a welding shop you wear heavy leather apron, coat, and shoe covers, and protective goggles.
