When is it appropriate to tell someone to call you by your preferred name?

Details:

I have a job interview in a few days. I want to go by my preferred name, because, well, everyone calls me by that name and I just really don't like my given name. When is it appropriate to tell the person who's interviewing me this?

When introducing yourself to the interviewer, I suppose. Telling them later may make them question why you didn't tell them to start with, and just create a slight mess, depending on how the person's personality is. Hope this helps. c:
