When I sell stocks do I get to pocket the money?

You need to pay tax on the capital gains, so not all the money is pure profit.

That is if you want to use the money. If you just compound and use it to buy more stocks, then you might not have to. The tax law is different in each country.

Yes, but there is a process before you get the money. You need to learn a lot of things about the process. Take ECON 101 at the local college and ask the professor what other classes to take. Keep studying until you don't need anybody's advice about anything. The stock market is in turmoil these days, so the time spent in schooling will prevent you from making a lot of costly mistakes. Until you get ready to jump in, keep your funds entirely in silver coins and ingots which you do not put in any company's vault: hide them at home.
