When I plug my mic in it doesn't show in recording devices?

So I have got a HP19 All-In-One POS that I'm using until my GPU comes in... Now I have a headset usually worn on my gaming rig which I know works.. Now.. Sometime's I plug my headset into the pc which isn't USB it's a mic and headset 3.5mm jack and it works. Now my issue is that it doesn't show in my recording devices even when I right-click an show disable devices.

This all-in-one has a built in mic but I don't want to use it because it's terrible. I want to use my headset but the mic isn't showing up in the devices. - Window 8 aka POS

You might want technical support. All-in-One computers are not always what they are cracked up to be. They usually are more picky with external programs and devices. And are usually more prone to viruses and harder to fix than a regular desktop. It might be a good idea to have some extra help.

So what you're telling me is to throw this pos away and just wait until my GPU comes? sounds fantastic.

I am not saying to throw it away. I am just mentioning that it isn't a completely sturdy system. It is can still run some good things. Although pretty much the only reason people ever buy those All-In-One things is to save room. I usually just see them in business offices or my uncles house. He is a book editor and usually just uses text or pdf programs all day so he doesn't need a lot of fancy sound or graphics software. In fact he doesn't even use the sound functions at all.
