You need to read some books about nutrition and learn how to eat right. Protein shakes are made of powdered milk, soy flour, sugar, and flavor. They cost about $1.25 for the amount of protein you get in a quarter's worth of milk. Your body needs 4/10 gram of complete protein per pound of weight, about 65 grams for a female and 90 grams for a male. You do not need more because you exercise or less because you loaf. For convenience you only count 6 grams per egg, 12 grams per glass of milk, and 24 grams per quarter pound of meat. If you eat more than the body needs, the excess is burned as ordinary but expensive calories. If you really think you need more protein, get powdered milk and mix it into your food. Or just eat more eggs.
If you want some specific result from your exercises you need professional guidance.
Long before supplements... people were gaining weight and putting on muscle. You really don't need the protein shakes. Fitness supplement companies love tricking young people with their ads in order to take their fucccckin money. I'm a personal trainer, here's what you gotta do. Don't overthink it. People love to push the specific macro bull. It's only a marketing tactic in order to get you to believe in the necessity of excessive protein for muscle. Why? So you can buy and they can take yo money. You simply have to eat 6-7 times a day, 500-1000 calories. Most hardgainers are too soft to do this, but it's the only way. As far as putting on muscles. You have to do real high volume training with weight. If you ain't doing at least 100 reps per muscle group per workout, you ain't lifting. And this doesn't mean super light weight, you need some resistance. Keep in mind, it takes time. Bodybuilders have been doing this for years, even decades. So if you think you're gonna look super aesthetic in a matter of months, you're fooling yourself. But you can make significant progress. Train at least 4 times a week. Again... you have to force feed yourself. ESPECIALLY when you aren't hungry. Most people with your situation are too soft to do so. You have to space your meals out and eat every 3-4 hours. Because your metabolism, builds up momentum and you don't want it to remain in a fasting state far too long.
