Part A: Set up an equation using n to represent the number.
Part B: Solve the equation in Part A for n.
N + 2/3 = 3 + 2N
The rule is you can do any valid operation on both sides of an equation and it will still be equal. Subtract N.
2/3 = 3 + N Subtract 3.
-7/3 = N
Check:-7/3 + 2/3 = 3 - 14/3
-5/3 = 9/3 - 14/3 = -5/3 <-- PROVED
2/3 + n - 3 = 2n ## subtract n2/3 - 9/3 = nn = -7/3
check:
2/3 - 7/3 - 9/3 =(2 - 7 - 9) / 3 = -14/3 ## which is 2 * -7/3
