What's the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?

One is a donkey, and the other is an elephant.
Republican conservative while Democrat is more liberal. For example, Republicans do not support gay marriage and would only lean on man and women marriage while Democrats are more progressive and favor gay marriage. Same with tax, labor, healthcare.
