Various plants have been proposed as the source of the crown of thorns the New Testament says was placed on Christ's head in the lead-up to the crucifixion, and no-one knows for certain. But the consensus among Christian scholars tends toward Ziziphus Spina-Christi.

There could have been a number of plant types used to braid this crown. Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) is a good candidate. Branches cut from shrubs are easier to weave together as they are flexible and strong, and more assessable in that area.
The Bible says in Mark 15:17 "And they dressed him in purple and braided a crown of thorns and put it on him." There have also been many people over the many centuries who have put emphasis on, his garments, (clothing), "Furthermore, they cast lots to distribute his garments". Luke 23:34b.
Although this is of interest to many people, what should be of more important interest is, "Why did Jesus die"? How did that benefit mankind. How can we show appreciation for Jesus’ ransom sacrifice? Matthew 20:28 answers that question.
