I am planning on getting a new computer. I just don't know what kind to get D:
I want a cheap (can be older version), good to play games with, and it can be any type of computer.
I mainly want it so I can get minecraft and other downloadable things.
Any suggestions? :3
What type of computer should I get?

Having a specific price range will help.
This depends on what type of games you want to play besides Minecraft. If it's just card games or chess then you shouldn't go with a computer any older than 2 or 3 years because it could be a bit slow.
PC's have always been better for gaming. Like DELL and HP which are popular brands.
Well you are in luck with your $500 price tag. A notebook would be more realistic for that price. But I'd recommend getting a tablet. The two best tablets out there that I've seen are the, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for $299.00 on Amazon.com. Or the I-pad 2 for as little as $412.99 on Amazon.com. Both with free shipping.
I'd recommend comparing both tablets and decide for yourself. You can watch some good reviews for these tablets on YouTube.
If you do decide on a laptop, please be aware that this a CPU intensive game & your laptop will most likely run hot (70C is not uncommon). Heat kills electonics so its best to run it on a cooling pad or accept a shorter life for your machine.
For gaming on a laptop it is better to go for one with an AMD proccesor such as an A8 or A10 as they have a separate graphics card. Intel processors now come with integrated graphics (HD4000) which are limited & not well liked by gamers.
If you do not mind about portability go for a desktop/tower as it should run cooler/live longer. Also it is easier to upgrade, change screens, add sound systems or repair.Rather than buy off Dell & Hp ( as they can be difficult to upgrade internals, prehaps visit a local PC shop who will build one to suit your present future needs at a resonable price plus service hp dell can only dream of.
With a local PC shop built computer, you may well still get the valuable option of having Windows 7. Without a touch screen, Windows 8 is awkward to say the least! Toch screens are not cheap yet!
To be safe, why don't you choose a Computer (or specifications & price of the Pc shop built offering) and comment it here or post a new question.
If you decide on a tablet be aware that at present that Pocket Mincraft, although impressive, does not run on the same servers as the full PC version. Only way I know how to do this is to use a remote desk top program such as Splashtop or Team Viewer to access your PC.
Of course if you buy a desktop, you may have some money left over against an equivalent performance laptop to buy an Android tablet.
If you can follow directions well, you can try building a computer yourself. Its really easy, and places like Reddit can help you with the build itself. Intel and AMD both have CPUs with built in graphics, and you can pick up an older video card for rather cheap and it will still be effective. The most expensive part is going to be the copy of Windows, which OEM runs around $100. If you want some help, just shoot me a PM and I'll see about doing a budget build for you.
You could also try PC Gamer, they have a quarterly? how to on building PCs, and what they suggest for a given price range.
Tehspy is right, AMD do indeed now offer CPU's with integrated graphics which are in most cases also inferior to a dedicated & discrete graphics GPU chip. Even if you do go for a discrete GPU laptop, be careful as even these may not be powerful enough, a good site to check is:-

Go for a laptop with a card in the top 130 but this may be out of your budget as they are not that common & of course you can't upgrade. On a positive note, Steam have recognized that more people are playing their games on laptops & may build future games to address this growing sector.
Build your own as Tehspy says is reasonably straight forward, if you feel nervous about matching components, there are many bundles of Motherboards/CPU/memory out there that are fail safe & at low prices.
Tehspy, bit surprised to see you have a down vote, I thought your comment was accurate, up to date & above all helpfull not only to littlebigfan, but also to me with your polite correction (AMD CPU intergrated graphics).
Anything under like 500 bucks would be a pretty good price
