What to wear to casual high school valentine's day dance?

Going to dance next week but don't know what to wear. Is a dress too formal for this kind of dance?

A nice pair of black slacks with a red or pink top and flats or short black boots.

A nice pair of jeans, red or white top and red tennis shoes.

A red skirt, white blouse and a cute denim jacket.
