What time the asteriod passes the earth this Friday, Feb. 15, 2013? at North west Iowa?

The closest approach to the earth is between 7pm and 8pm GMT. It'll be at its closest about 7:30pm GMT on exactly the opposite side of the earth that the sun is on. On the equator on the 15th, sunrise is 6:24am and sunset is 6:32pm so true midday is 12:04pm and true midnight is 12:04am. The location on earth closest to true midnight at 7:30pm GMT will be right under the asteroid and the location closest to true midday will be on the other side of the world to that which the asteroid passes.

True midnight is GMT+4 and GMT+5 (the Middle East, India and Central Russia). They're right under it.

True midday is GMT-8 and GMT-7 (Western USA/Canada and all of Mexico). For those, the whole world will be between them and the asteroid.

P.S. For Iowa, the asteroid has its closest approach (on the other side of the world) at 1:30pm. If you look at your feet at that time, that's about where it is.

around about 7.00

I did a bit of Googling. Apparently it's 7:26pm GMT.

Thank you! I can't wait to see the asteriod as it passes the earth!!

I'm not sure many people can see it from the surface of the earth but I'd hope you can see it from wherever you are at that time.

Around 7:00 :)
