I was texting my friend and I called them Gay! They told me to chill with the gay stuff then he called me a LESBO! Then I told him i'm not as gay as he is. What should I do?

Comply with the rules nevertheless. If you don't want to get on people's nerves (thereby getting yourself into trouble), be courteous until knowing for certain all parties involved would consent to offensive humour (which, by the way, does not automatically make it amusing; particularly h0mophoby nowadays).
Yes,but that's a game (a fun one tbh). Things become different in casual conversation. Honestly, getting in trouble for name calling is pretty dumb, so if you like that humor, just play the game and be content. My mind is boggled at the idea or getting detention for something as dumb as that. It's not worth it. And calling people gay is so overused now, it wouldn't even be funny in CAH.Get a new insult, people.
For instance, there's a party game called cards against humanity; every single line therein is offensive, yet the best ideas are shared associations expressed through these candid terms.
