These steps are for rancid sour cream but should work for sour milk also:
STEP 1
Sip water and drink clear fluids. Drinking fluids at a slow pace will help the body remove the spoiled sour cream from your system. Do not drink too much fluid or you may increase your discomfort.
STEP 2
Take over-the-counter (OTC) antacids to ease stomach pain. These medications neutralize acids that may form as the stomach reacts to spoiled sour cream. Take as directed.
STEP 3
Wait about six hours to eat small portions of food. Begin consuming small portions of rice, applesauce or crackers as your stomach settles.
STEP 4
Avoid dairy products, high-fat foods, caffeine, alcohol, carbonated beverages and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. These products may worsen your symptoms.
STEP 5
Consider taking OTC medications that block stomach acid formation. Contact your doctor immediately if symptoms worsen.
WARNINGS
Seek immediate medical treatment if you have bloody vomit, stools, pain that you cannot tolerate or an abdomen that is hard to the touch.
