Okay. So I have never had any type of reptile before, and I wanted to get one. I have done some research about them. I was considering about getting a basilisk as my first, but here in this town they are very expensive. So I was thinking of a different lizard. There is no way my mom is going to let me get a snake or anything. I think she will be fine with lizards though.
I want one that will be fine with my holding it, not like a chameleon then. I did research about them and it said they get scared easily and they shouldn't be held that much, witch I want one that I can hold. But I liked the size of the chameleon.
Then I was looking at bearded dragons, and they are suppose to get 4 ft long, and I don't think my mom would like Godzilla in the house. Lol, but then the bearded dragons like to be handled. So I just need some help here (:
What should be my first reptile pet?

Hello Fluffy,
First I would like to ask you that what makes you so sure that your mom will be okay with a lizard since she cannot handle snakes because lets face it, a snake and a lizard or a chameleon both are crawling reptiles. And even if she does I would say that you should get an iguana. They are super cool and calm too. I think you and your mom both might like it.
Do let me know what you chose though if not an iguana.
Now, I'm not saying the previous answer was a bad answer but I just think for a first reptile, an iguana is not the right one. Iguanas can get really big, bigger the bearded dragons. Bearded dragons are an ideal starter lizard, they do get kind of long but definitely not 4 foot unless they have really long tails. They only get maybe one or two I believe. Another Lizard that you could start out with is the leopard gecko. They are smaller than the bearded dragon but aren't too small. They have some really nice markings and colors too. Both of these lizards, with proper and regular handling, will be happy to hangout with you. Some will even sit up against the glass waiting for you to get them out. I hope this helps if you haven't already got a little buddy or even if you do have one and plan on getting more or even giving this advice to others.
