Very soon I will be looking to move to a new location, because my husband is going inactive. I am looking to live in a place on the East coast of the US. It can snow, but not too much. It can't get too hot (like Louisiana), because he can't stand it. It needs to be either in the mountains or a hilly region. And if at all possible, a place where we can see a tree that is not a pine tree.
Basically, think a Thomas Kinkade painting or the town from Hocus Pocus.
What place in the US fits this description?

Asheville, NC is a fantastic place. It's up in the mountains, so it's cooler (temp-wise) than most of N. Carolina. It does snow there a bit, but not like the really cold places up north. It's SO pretty, and despite being a small, Southern town, has an arty hip vibe to the place. I'm stuck in California for various reasons, but I'd probably move there if I could. Oh, and awesome food!
