It is said that European royal family members have been so randy that anybody with white skin can probably trace descent from one or all of them. For example, my lineage has been traced to Old King Cole, the guy in the nursery rhyme. He saved his people by making music for the Roman soldiers, instead of trying to fight them.
Oh, and they say that Genghis Khan got with so many women that any random person has a 1/2% chance of being descended from him.
Sorry it's such a lousy answer, but there just isn't any straight answer.
