Martial arts teachers teach that exact subject, called "kiai", pronounced "key eye", and they have noticed a definite national character. The Japanese mouth makes a sound like "eh". The American tends to sound more like "yeehaw" or sometimes "hoo ee". Other nationalities have unique sounds. I am not aware that anybody has studied the effect.
