It is not a good idea to ask strangers to explain the bible to you. Many will tell you lies, and many will make up things because they don't want to admit they don't know. Read the story in Exodus 14 and following chapters. Read it several times so you can recall details. For instance it says Exodus 14:3 "For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in." There is no place along the Red Sea where two million people (estimated) would be "entrapped in the land". But if you consider the possible translation error that it was the Reed Sea, then "entrapped in the land" is a reasonable thing to say.
