I'm in the process of designing characters for a superhero themed comic taking place in a somewhat dystopian future. I want to tie in real world themes and for this to work I'm working on a diverse set of characters. I've read a lot about what authors and artists say make characters relatable, but I thought it would be better to hear directly from a larger group of people. Basically what would you like to see in comic/graphic novel characters?

I'm no expert but I think it's important for the character to have flaws. Having a perfect character who always saves the day isn't any fun. At the same time, I wouldn't want the character to do something so incredibly stupid. At least some intelligence and common sense would be preferred. Like I said, I'm no expert, so this may just be a repeat of articles you've already read.
