For as long as I can remember, I've been using Crest Pro-Health toothpaste because it supposedly covers a lot of conditions (cavities, plaque, whitening, sensitive teeth). I brush my teeth every day and I still have cavities when I go to my dentist. He honestly is not very good so I can't ask him for a recommendation (plus the samples he gives me at my cleanings are the same as what I buy at the store). I'm curious if switching to a different toothpaste will help these issues occur less.

It sounds like you need to switch to a different dentist.
The samples a dentist gives away are nothing more than advertising. The dentist does not recommend them, he merely gives them away. All the dentists I have talked to say it's brushing that does the job, not toothpaste.
Cavities suggest that you need to improve your nutrition, and you can only do that by studying the books yourself. Dentists are aware that you need some vitamin C, but that apparently is the limit of their knowledge, Not one doctor or dentist has ever told me to eat calcium, even though the body is made of it. They have no such training. So you have to learn it yourself.
No problem, happy to help.
I definitely want a new dentist, I am not happy with mine. He lets cavities build up and doesn't tell me I have them, then come next visit I have a ton all of a sudden. And one was so big and on one of my front teeth, I knew about it for a good year because it's blatantly there, and he let it go over a year. I definitely want a new dentist though. Just thought a different toothpaste could help some more. Thank you.
