I just got a fish tank yesterday and I set it up. I would want to find out about this because I really dont want to have alot of fish that wont work together. I am also wondering if you can put angel fish in a 20 gallen tank, and how many and with what fish? I want a group of selected fish like more then one kind of fish. Make sure they can be placed in a tank together. I have a filtered tank which is fresh water. I would like a possible awnser soon as possible! Thanks!

It really depends on the kind of fish you want to put in there. Eg. goldfish are super messy so you wouldn't want to many of those. Also, at petsmart don't listen to what the clerks say 'cause they seriously exaggerate on how many you can have. A good rule of thumb is 1 gallon for every inch of fish, except for goldfish, they are 2 gallons every inch. Hope this helped, at least somewhat.
It is a good thing you have a 20 because f you had a smaller tank then you would not have as many options, try talking to a local fish expert from a pet store, Do research,
*R U wanting it to be saltwater or freshwater because if you want fresh then you have to choose from that category, for fresh many start by getting a PLECO !
Hmmm so you want a community tank, eh? So, my suggestion is to get some guppys, tetras, and mollies. They all work together. I wouldn't put any aggressive fish like sharks, oscars, and silver dollars. They also get HUGE. Guppies, tetras, and mollies I suggest. They all are nice to each other!
Don't go the beta route. Get a central American ciclid. A Red Devil or a Salavini. They can grow quite large, are very colorful, love live food such as earthworms, goldfish, bugs and insects. Aggressive fish that will grow to be a great pet and affectionate-for a fish.
You will need a 10-20 gallon aquarium, underwater filter and heater. Get used 20$
You will learn how fish growth is related to their environment. How waste is disposed of in a closed system. Understanding of ph levels and it's effect on aquatic growth-the fishe's and other plants and animals. It takes little care, gives hours of enjoyment and when the little guy gets big it's really fun to feed because they get tiny sharp teeth. How much more fun can you have for a 30 $ investment? Trust me you'll love it. When you are asking emphasize the importance of learning and the. education
Well my advice is: go to your local fish store and say that you would like to buy some fish. They will ask you questions such as how big is the tank etc etc. They will advice you the fish that you should put in. Then you can choose the fish you want out of the recommended ones. They also tell you how many fish you can have. Just go to you =r local fish store and ask about it, they will know the answer!
