In the USA we have a strong aversion to letting children grow up. We don't call it that, but that's what it is. Starting about the age of 10 or so, every boy wants to start acting grown up, earn some money, and join the human race. It is a crime to give a kid a job. A teen is forced by law to pretend to be a child until age 18 in most areas, given no training at all in how to act grown up, and then thrown into the world and expected to perform as a normal citizen. The teen is forcibly prevented from ever learning a work ethic.
My father quit school before finishing third grade. At age 13 he departed his father's household, thumbed a ride across a state line, and got a job as a construction laborer. At age 21 he married a 15 yo girl. For a long time he supported his family by manufacturing ornaments of lead, plated with copper. Then he opened a lead mine in the desert. Every detail of that story is a crime now.
Thank you for your answer and I truly agree with it as well. :)
