I need to find the slope of a line parallel to y=x+5. I suck at math.

Slope is rise over run. Run is horizontal distance, left to right. Run is always positive because we always go left to right. Rise is the vertical change in that same distance. A negative rise means it drops. A big part of math is pattern recognition. A lot of homework is just fighting with stuff so you will remember the pattern when you see it again. The equation is given in slope-intercept form y=mx+b where m is the slope.
