I always hear adults dismissing childrens' feelings as lesser in some way than adult feelings. I was wondering what specifically changes, regarding romantic feelings and the brain chemistry behind them. Why is it different?

Love is when you are aware of a need and you take care of it. Children don't know that. A lot of adults haven't learned it either.
A person needs air, water, food, clothing/shelter, and companionship. A person who doesn't get all five of those either dies or becomes very weird.
I don't know if there's a science to it. I'm a grandmother and I get crushes on certain actors. LOL It doesn't hinder my mode of living. Children are more prone to their emotions and can easily confuse "crushing" with love. The article below might give you an answer.
