What is the role of buses in computer system?

A buss, sometimes spelled bus, is a bar of metal intended to carry a high current, or a low current with very low resistance. The word is used in computers to mean a collection of wires to transfer data, such as the wires that connect all the expansion sockets together, or the wires that carry data to or from a memory unit.
