What is the point of a Stereo Male to Male Cable?
I'm looking for a mic to use for audio recording, and a mic I am inclined to use is the Tonor TN12000326, however, my Macbook Air has a single headphone jack, and it says that if your device has a single jack, a sound card, or Stereo Male to Male Cable (3.5mm) needs to be used. What is the point of the Cable? I can't find anything that says what it's used for.
Please answer, as I am curious to find out what this cable does, and what it's relevancy to the mic is, and so on.

A headphone jack is an OUTPUT...Sounds like your gonna have to go USB IN...The cable on the mic you mentioned is most likely Mono (doesnt say) and would need to be plugged into the MIC IN or LINE IN or AUX IN of a computer..Never seen a L /R stereo input like that..Now, some breakout boxes ,like Ive got, have L and R seperate inputs but will need to be fed L and R seperate sources from an OUTPUT (like a mixer or PA Brain)..Your better off getting a little USB mixer which will have 2-3 different ways to interface a MIC and INST . (ie 3.5mm or RCA or XLR, or 1/4 in etc. You'll have seperate vol controls for preamping as well...You can also get a lil USB mic pretty cheap if ya just plan on using one mic into one channel for one track. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your help!
I understand a lot better now. Thanks!
