According to the BBC on September 15, 2010, there are "about five milliion Catholics, or about one in 12 people." This translates to just over 8%, although some speculate an increase due to a European migration to England.

They don't analyse within a religion. They say so many Christians, they don't say so many catholics, so many protestants. I need to know what % is Catholic, not what percentage is Christian. This is just an argument I had with a friend who insists that Catolics in the UK are over 60% and my point is that they are not more than 45%.
If anyone can assist in this it is just an argument we had when the Pope went to London last month.
