What is the cycle life of a storage battery?

"Storage battery" is a term not used much because it does not have any specific meaning. All batteries are "storage". If you mean a lead-acid battery, you can get a temperature compensated charge controller and the battery should be good for fifteen years or more. Boats use that kind of controller, so you can check with marine equipment suppliers.

A typical battery has a limited number of complete charge cycles (discharge+charge). For lithium ion batteries, this number can be around 1000 and partial discharges/charges add up as a proportional part of a complete charge cycle.
