My new bike has good performance, but i would prefer it if the acceleration was a bit better, so i have decided i would buy a bore kit for it to improve the performance, but friends have told me they have been known to damage or even blow and engine if its too high, especially for a 125cc.
What would be an ideally balanced bore kit to fit on it? Preferably around £75
What is the best bore kit to go on a Yamaha Yzf r125 which wont damage/blow up the engine?

The Malossi Big Bore 183cc & ECU kit.which costs £500. ( you have a bit more to find cash Im sorry to say, but there is no substitute for cubes!). Why this kit, well this was made for the Italian YZF-R125 Cup racing series that is sponsored by Yamaha, also Power can be increased in stages,
!. Basic Barrel, Piston & ECU Kit should get you up to 17 to 18 bhp at the wheel, (against 12bhp for the stock 125cc also at the wheel). An Exhaust down tube may also be needed, (not sure but this is talked about in some conversions on line).
2. Add a High lift Cam.
3. Big Valve and gas flowed head.
All three together should get you after a trip to the Dyno for best ECU mapping setting, of around 22 bhp at the wheel which is the race tune for the series.
£500-600 is a lot of money for an at best extra10mph for option 1 & an increased chance of breaking your engine.
As you are likely a learner, so would be uninsured & at best get your bike crushed if caught or worse sued for £10,000's if you hurt someone, would it not be better to save your cash & put it towards passing your test & a bigger bike?
