What is tartar when you are talking about teeth? Is it plaque? What are the advantages/benefits of tartar protection toothpaste? Would it be a better option compared to a regular toothpaste? Thanks!

Tartar, also known as calculus, is a form of hardened dental plaque. It is caused by the continual accumulation of minerals from saliva on plaque on the teeth. Its rough surface provides an ideal medium for further plaque formation, threatening the health of the gums.
Brushing and flossing can remove plaque from which calculus forms; however, once formed, it is too hard and firmly attached to be removed with a toothbrush. Tartar build up can be removed with ultrasonic tools or unique hand instruments such as a scaler.
A tartar protection toothpaste doesn't really help, regular, proper brushing with a decent toothpaste, a good toothbrush and regular visits to the dentist (twice a year) is more than enough to prevent any tartar formation well before it becomes serious.
You're welcome :)
Thank you!
