What is ones ethnicity based on? Is it where you were born or where your parents are from?

My dad was born and raised in Germany and his parents too, my mum was born and raised in India and her parents too and I was born in Germany and raised in both Germany and India since I kept moving back and forth. So what is my ethnicity?
