It really depends, what kind of "family love" are we talking about?
If it's simply about loving them because they are blood related, that's completely rediculous. I've seen plenty of families who clearly don't love each other despite their genetic connection. There are lots of parents out there who could care less for their children and the other way around. I personaly have very little affection for my blood family, they don't see me as any kind of prize either. I only love my mother who has had to work to earn my love and prove herself.
Think of it this way, you wouldn't love your parents if they abused you every night even if they were your biological parents.
If it's about love with a person that you feel you can trust and depend on regardless of blood lines, then yes, it is very important. You need people like that to support you in even your darkest times.
Both - they are equally as valid, yet different.
Hopefully one day that LOVE turns into FAMILY love.
I am married, and I have parents that I care about.
I love them both with all my heart. ---and I have children. And my "LOVE" transforms into both...especially when children are involved.
