I don't where you got this information, but as far as I know it is not true.
From a scientific point of view, there has been no documentation or reports to this claim. Although many, because of the worsening world conditions think we are living in a time The Bible calls the last days. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
However the Bible also says that no one knows the day or hour of the end of the world or the conditions that are getting worst.
(Mark 13:32) “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father.
What the Bible does say is, people must be given a warning about what they need to do to prepare for any catastrophic situation.
(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
Some say, knowledge is power, in this case it can save a persons life.
