An invention of man in order to enable him to control others, "Do what I say or my "god" will burn you", OR a superstitious device used to explain things that early man was unable to explain which them ballooned out of all proportion when people realised they could use it to control other people. Either way all religion is an invention we created and was subsequently used by others to inflict torture, death, rape and mutilation on others in the name of personal wealth, power, greed, lust and domination.
Religion nor God are inventions by man. More the other way around. God created everything, he created us and all creation. God brings us hope, blessing, love, joy, happiness. He gives us hope in this failing world.
Wow this is a sensitive subject but it boils down to what you believe in. For example ask a Christian and it can very from the father to the son.... To your best friend and so on. Ask an atheist as my self and it can go from an excuse for stuff we couldn't explain thousands of years to go to the reason why we live in america(one nation under god after all). If your someone who is struggling with their religion then ultimately it's not what is god for us but what is god for you. It can literally be a billion different things for one person. No matter what god is faith.
