Along with agreeing to Ernest's answer:
It is a device that, when hooked up to a network of other similar devices, is capable of acquiring any kind of information on any kind of subject. Some of it wrong and some of it right. It is also capable of acquiring programs, making the computer more than simply an information-hotspot. With the programs the computer can contain, one can amuse oneself for hours, meet other people who also has a computer or do assignments like reading, writing or calculating. The things a computer can do is practically limitless.
A quick correction, the Anylitical Engine design was never finalised, Babbage was a perfectionist & would tinker with his designs which he did until his death in 1871. It is recognised as introducing many of the features that are found on today's computers and established Babbage position as a founding computer pioneer.
