What is best to use when getting a book autographed? Pen or sharpie? Blue or black?

When you go to a book signing at a book store the author usually has a supply of writing instruments. If it is not a formal signing take whatever you want but take two in case one doesn't work and you don't slow up the line or irritate the author.

Whatever you use it’s probably best that the color doesn’t run and it won’t seep into the page so you don’t see it on both sides. Maybe look for something that says no smear on the packaging and test whatever you use before you bring it.
