Trying to decide what family dog is best for us...any breed recommendations would be grateful! We are looking for a dog that would be great with our two toddlers, a dog that doesn't need to be groomed often (short haired). Right now we live in a townhouse (2 level) that has large backyard but not fenced. I really want to get a boxer but my husband think that size dog might be too big (I like bigger dog vs small toy size dog who barks a lot). Have looked at French bulldog, Boston terrier, and English bulldog but would like to know of any breeds or your thoughts if you have any of the above listed breeds. Thanks in advance!
What is best family dog breed that is great with toddlers and low maintenance with grooming?

Personally, I am a Labrador person. They are great around little ones, very obedient and smart, and of course loving. Downside to having a lab, would obviously be thier size, and that they do require a larger space typically. We did have one lab in an apartment at one point, and we made sure to take her to dog park often. However, if your husband would prefer something smaller, a basset hound may be a good alternative to the typical bulldog, Maltese, etc. Females are usually smaller, they are very sweet, and typically a laid back breed. I've grown up around three of them and they all have had a great temperament, and do not take hardly any grooming (other than their ears may get wet or dirty from dragging the floor or water bowl from time to time). Hope this helps!
