Try to imagine life without Xerox. No copiers. If you wanted to duplicate something you had to carve a stencil and put it into a Ditto machine. The ink smelled wonderful, and a lot of people still remember that smell with great fondness. So the Ditto room was where the papers got printed. The machines looked like this:
