You see the videos on YouTube of all the American troops turning up at the airport where their family is waiting. Does that happen here?

They don't usually meet their families at the airport (They fly into RAF Brize Norton). However, there is usually a celebration at their home camp.

Families wait at Plymouth and Portsmouth when Royal Navy ships return from deployment.
