What does “the future is now” mean?

Meaning that you shouldn't put anything off because the future is happening right now and the next second and the next second. So quit saying you'll do it in the future. It's now. I probably didn't explain it very well.

It means there has been a leap in knowledge or development and that something we saw as futuristic (say flying cars) is now available. It's a term generally used by advertisers to imply the product is cutting edge.
