Can anyone know for sure what will happen, since there seems to be so many problems in the world.

Darn you should have asked that question last week. We broke our crystal ball on Monday. We're hoping for a replacement for Christmas.
Nobody knows what the future holds. There are some good guessers but thats all it is a guess. And since we dont know we always have the hope things will be better or good or great. Those are the glass is half full people.
The glass is half empty people are expecting the chubby toad in Korea to blow us up. There is always going to be problems in the world. Thats life. Someone or some religion or some country is going to want to run things and won't take no for an answer.
The future holds what the past has demonstrated. Rome fell two thousand years ago for the same reasons and in the same ways that USA is failing today. Every culture eventually collapses, all in the same general manner and for the same general reasons. You would think that people would eventually grow a brain, but they don't; they just keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over.
Here are theories and summaries of this remarkable tendency: comingdarkage.blogspot.com/
You are correct, history does repeat it's self. So it is said, "when the same negative action is repeated, with the same negative results, it would assumed one has not learned anything. Or could this be a case of insanity.
Thank you for your input
As a Christian I look forward to what the future will bring. I believe with full confidence what God has promised to do.
Isaiah 46:9,10 says: Remember the first things of long ago, that I am the Divine One and there is no other God, nor anyone like me; the one telling from the beginning the finale, and from long ago the things that have not been done; the One saying, ' my own counsel will stand, and everything that is my delight I will do.' God knows what the future holds.
God promises a new heaven and a new earth, where there will be no more sickness, sorrow, or death. (Revelation 21:3-5) I really do await that time.
Human predictions are often based on such factors as scientific research, analysis of available facts and trends, or even bogus spiritual insight. After making their forecasts, humans typically sit back passively and wait to see what will happen.—Proverbs 27:1.
Unlike the doomsayers true Christans do not believe that mankind is headed for extinction. On the contrary, the Bible provides solid reason to believe that the best of times are ahead. “Many are the plans in the heart of a man, but the counsel of Jehovah is what will stand.”—Proverbs 19:21.
You can start by reading John 17:3. To get this proof of living on a paradise earth no more sickness and death Revelation 21:3,4 you must take in accurate knowledge of what the bible really teach.

Thank you for your candid and positive response. So many people have so many opinions, and like noses they grow, lol.
You are correct no one knows the future, we can only speculate based on what we see and hear. We can of course learn from the past, some of us, an for those that don't, well!
I did read this quote from the Bible, “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father." Mark 13:32
Thanks again.
