Need to buy a leisure battery for a 55lb thrust electric outboard ,the less amps the cheaper , smaller and lighter ,, but what do i loose in performance and endurance ,, 12v .. thanks ..

An amp (or ampere) is, by definition the measure of electrical current. The more amps your motor draws the more powerfull it will be. this is because amps * volts= watts. The more watts you have the more power is in your system. Basically if you have a 12v 1 amp motor it will be half as powerfull as a 12v 2 amp motor. This is because 12 * 1=12 and 12 * 2=24. So if your power source can handle more amps and you want more power, you should go with a motor with more amps.

the previous answer actually gave you the answer. but to put it into simple terms: if all the variants of the batteries have 12V, the lower you go for amp the shorter the life of your baterry will be under same usage conditions until recharged (e.g. at 12 V one baterry of 6 amp will last ~double the time of a 3 amp baterry if used under same conditions)
