I want to get a tattoo of the sacred heart of Jesus but I'm not sure what the difference is between the heart having a cross or not.
What does it mean if the sacred heart of Jesus doesn't have a cross?

I am Catholic and I don't want to get criticized for my tattoo not having the cross. In most pictures I see the sacred heart does have the cross but some do not. I just don't want to disrespect my religion.

When true Christians worship God, they do not use the cross.
(1) The cross has been used in false religion for a long time. In ancient times it was used in nature worship and in pagan sex rites. During the first 300 years after Jesus’ death, Christians did not use the cross in their worship. Much later, Roman Emperor Constantine made the cross a symbol of Christianity. The symbol was used to try to make Christianity more popular. But the cross had nothing to do with Jesus Christ. The New Catholic Encyclopedia explains: “The cross is found in both pre-Christian and non-Christian cultures.”
(2) Jesus did not die on a cross. The Greek words translated “cross” basically mean “an upright stake,” “a timber,” or “a tree.” The Companion Bible explains: “There is nothing in the Greek of the [New Testament] even to imply two pieces of timber.” Jesus died on an upright stake.

You maybe surprise to know that the cross is not mention no where in the scriptures. So where did this worship of cross started? Roman Emperor Constantine introduced the cross so that Christianity will come more popular. Hence fort the cross in worship became popular pagan worship, it was never mention by Jesus or any of his followers. While Jesus was on earth he never used any symbols in his worship , symbols worshipping like the cross and other images became a part of false worship. John 4:24 tells us, 'God is a spirit, and those worshipping him must worship in spirit and truth.' This means no symbols could be like God because he is a spirit and no one knows what he looks like, besides God does not want us to use any type of images to worship him even the cross that is not mention in the bible.Exodus 20:4,5 tells us, You must not make for yourself a carved image... You must not bow down to them nor be enticed to serve them, for I, Jehovah your God, am a God who requires exclusive devotion.' Yes your Heavenly Father is very hurt when we turn to images like the cross in our worship. In fact he promises to bring punishment upon those who includes idols or images in their worship.
Hope this little information help you to see no need to worry about the cross for Jesus were no part of it. For more information on this or any other topic, please visit JW.org for more information.
Why are you pushing Jehovah Witness religion on someone asking a question for a tattoo?
